Snake Eyes 1991 & Storm Shadow 1992 – Defining the 90s G.I. Joe Figures

Story by Mitchell Smith

Welcome to The Outpost. Today I’m taking a look at 1991 Snake Eyes and 1992 Storm Shadow. I always put these 2 together. One thing that has helped Snake and Stormy stay so popular over the years is they keep getting reinvented. There are so many great and different looks and these versions really hit the mark. Snake Eyes was completely overhauled and instead of a full black uniform there was some blue mixed in and the defining red goggles that made this figure pop. Storm Shadow on the other hand went from primarily white to a lot more black.

Both figures really broke out of their mold and had super cool new versions. It didn’t stop with these 2 figures though, there were 12 inch versions right around the same time. There was also the Dollar General Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes in 2012. I wish Dollar General still had affordable figures. Those were some of the best figures. Finally we have the Classified versions that I recently picked up. Overall these 2 versions really stand out and in my opinion really define the nineties figures.

Who had these original Joes? Where do you rank them amongst other versions of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow? Make sure to check back next week for the next discussion at The Outpost.
